New Zealand Red Rabbit
If you are looking for an impressive show animal, an extraordinarily sweet friend, or both, the New Zealand Red Rabbit is the first pet to meet!
Red rabbit as pets
The New Zealand red rabbit is a domestic rabbit raised for:
- delicious rabbit meat,
- rabbit fur coat (the fur grows to just about three quarters of an inch or less than 2 cm)
- show animals and
- pet rabbits.
Caring for your red pet rabbit
A red rabbit is quite docile and loves to be handled. Because their short fur they are easy to care for and don't require fussy grooming!
To give your New Zealand red pet rabbit a comfortable life, you need to:
- pay regular and careful attention to their coats,
- give them a huge pet rabbit cage with quite a bit of room to run about in as this is not a pet dwarf rabbit, although they do weigh a bit less than the other colors of New Zealand rabbits.
If you have a house rabbit, then buy your rabbit food from the shop. If possible, let it freely roam around in your garden where your pet rabbit will eat anything (so make sure you do want that!). In the evening put your pet rabbit back in a cage, so it won't disappear in a hole in your garden).
